A video filming of Tilapia Gift was carried out by the Malaysian Television Show (RTM) with the Kedah Fisheries Department at the Jitra Aquaculture Development Centre today.
This visualization was made to promote tilapia Gift fish and show the department’s efforts to strengthen the focus on breeding tilapia Gift.
Tilapia Gift (Genetic Improvement of Farmed Tilapia) is a species of tilapia fish that has been developed through selective breeding and inbreeding. The Tilapia Gift fish seeds produced have a faster growth rate than Red Tilagia, are more resistant to disease and taste better and have a more solid content structure.
Also present were Mr. Pang Anak Nyukang, Director of Fisheries Kedah, and Encik Mohd Yusri bin Ismail, Head of the Breed and Seed Branch of the Aquaculture Division of the Department of Fisheries Malaysia.
