Pahang has succeeded in setting a record in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) by anchoring two Light Rail Transit train carriages as the first artificial reef to the seabed of Tioman Island.
In conjunction with this historic event, a launching ceremony for the programme also known as ‘Malaysia Book of Records: The First LRT Coach Reef in Malaysia’ was officiated by His Majesty the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah at Berjaya Tioman Resort.
At the event, Al-Sultan Abdullah said the initiative initiated by Yayasan Al-Sultan Abdullah (YASA) is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism sector on the resort island.
Tioman Island is the largest of the nine islands that make up the Tioman Island Marine Park. LA was chosen because of the richness of its marine environment and to reduce the pressure on the coral reefs in the surrounding area.
The programme is organised by Yayasan Al-Sultan Abdullah in collaboration with Gaya Travel Media, and fully supported by the Tioman Development Authority, Malaysia Book of Records, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, Department of Fisheries Malaysia, Tourism Pahang, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, Salam Alliance Sdn. Bhd and Aqualight Motion.
