The Selangor State Fisheries Department continues the Inland Fisheries Resource Conservation Programme series II by focusing on hunting for foreign fish with the community to curb the flood of invasive foreign fish populations that have affected native fish species in the country’s aquatic ecosystem.

The program, which was held at the National River Trail, Hulu Langat, was officiated by the Selangor State Exco for Infrastructure and Agriculture, Yang Berhormat Tuan Ir. Izham Bin Hashim. The catch of 737 kg of city fish in today’s program was successfully increased.

The programme also received cooperation from the City Fish Hunter Community (KPIB), Selangor State Department of Irrigation & Drainage, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM). Malaysian Defence Force (APM), Syarikat Air Selangor and Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS).

At the same programme, there was also an activity to release 10,000 thousand river lampam fish fry into Sungai Langat. The Department also donated equipment to KPIB in the form of fishing nets, hanging scales and gloves for community use while hunting foreign fish.

Also present in this program were Mrs. Noraisyah binti Abu Bakar, Director of Selangor State Fisheries and staff of the Selangor State Fisheries Office.
