Director General of Fisheries Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Haji Adnan bin Hussain, paid a working visit to the Fisheries Research Institute (IPP) Rantau Abang to inspect the office facilities at the Endangered Marine Species Gallery as well as the Turtle and Marine Mammal Rescue Pond.

The Rantau Abang IPP conducts various studies on marine biology, ecology, and conservation of endangered species, including the iconic leatherback turtle that is abundant in the area. Research conducted at this institute assists in formulating strategies for marine conservation, sustainable fishing practices, and habitat protection.

The institute also collaborates with local and international organizations to promote marine biodiversity conservation and plays an important role in educating the public in raising awareness about the importance of marine life conservation through research, outreach programs, and community engagement.

Also present, YBrs. En. Ruzaidi bin Mamat, Director of the Terengganu State Fisheries Office, YBrs. Mr. Sharum bin Yusof, Director of the Rantau Abang Fisheries Research Institute as well as state fisheries officers and headquarters.
