YBhg. Dato’ Haji Adnan bin Hussain, Director-General of Fisheries Malaysia, conducted a working visit to the Cage Fish Farming Project owned by Dato’ Goh Cheng Liang and operated by Oceanic Aquaculture Venture Sdn. Bhd., located at Pulau Jerejak.
This project has been in operation since 2013 and currently manages over 320 cages, focusing on the farming of sea bass, grouper, and pomfret. The company is recognized by the Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) and holds the Fish Quality Certificate (FQC). It is also in the process of obtaining Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification in collaboration with WWF.
During the visit, the Director-General of Fisheries emphasized the importance of aquaculture projects that consider socioeconomic aspects, infrastructure facilities, and market access in alignment with efforts to develop the nation’s aquaculture industry.
Also present were Puan Zarina binti Zainuddin, Director of Fisheries for the State of Penang, along with state fisheries officers.
