The Sarawak Marine Fisheries Department organized the Taste of Aquaculture Program and myAgropreneur Fisheries (myAP)/myFisheries Community (myKP) Carnival with the theme “Sustainable Fisheries, Assured Delicacies”, held at Majma Mall, Kuching. The launching ceremony was officiated by the Director-General of the Department of Fisheries Malaysia, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Haji Adnan bin Hussain.

This program aimed to introduce marine aquaculture products and local fisheries downstream products, while also serving as a strategic platform to expand market networks and empower the participation of entrepreneurs and fishing communities in the fisheries industry value chain.

In conjunction with the event, 12 SpeKS recipients and three Fisheries Network Leaders were awarded mock cheques and GPS equipment in recognition of their contributions to grassroots fisheries development.

The event also featured the launch of a book on artificial reefs titled “SATU – Sarawak Artificial Reefs Trailblazing Underwater”, symbolizing the Department’s commitment to marine conservation, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14: Life Below Water. The installation of artificial reefs not only helps to restore marine habitats and preserve biodiversity but also contributes to the sustainability of fishermen’s livelihoods.

Also present at the event were YBrs Encik Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Wahab, Senior Director of the Sarawak Marine Fisheries Department; YBrs Encik Jamil bin Musel, Director of the Sarawak and Labuan Fisheries Research Institute; YBrs. Puan Rosmawati binti Ghazali, Senior Deputy Director of the Aquaculture Division; as well as officers from the Fisheries Headquarters, state, and district levels.
