Today at the Department of Fisheries Malaysia in Putrajaya, an agreement signing session was held between Excel Corporation and the Department of Fisheries Malaysia.
Excel Corporation was given the contract to upgrade the KL Cermin vessel for the Malaysian Fisheries Department. The contract will run for two (2) years, from September 25, 20232, to September 24, 2025, at a cost of RM10,138,831.01.
Completed at Niigata Shipyard in Japan on March 13, 1992, the KL Cermin is a trawl fishing vessel that was given to the Malaysian government by means of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Malaysian Fisheries Department’s training centers and the Malaysian Fisheries Academy (APM) will use this KL Cermin vessel to teach students related skills and catch fishing techniques, which will lessen their need on outside energy sources.
YBhg. Dato’ Adnan bin Hussain, Director General of Fisheries, Tuan Haji Abdul halim bin Marzuki, Senior Director, Engineering Division, and an Excel Corporation representative signed the agreement next. The Human Capital Development Division’s Director, Mrs. Shamila binti Zainol, was also in attendance.
