In conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism Exhibition (MAHA), the Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) created a record recognized by The Malaysia Book Of Records (MBOR) with the production of the ‘100 YEAR MAHA 2024’ tuna sandwich formation witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.

YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, said the production of the ‘100 YEAR MAHA 2024’ tuna sandwich formation was first produced in Malaysia with the collaboration of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

“The selection of tuna fish is to promote to the public the benefits of tuna which is rich in protein, Omega-3 as well as Vitamins B and D. This formation uses a total of 8,000 sandwiches which produces a total size of 13 meters x 8 meters equivalent to 104 square meters.

At the same event, he also completed the release of 100 native fish broodstock at Lake MAEPS. A total of eight species of broodstock were released consisting of terbul, lampam sungai, kerai, baung, kaloi, sebarau and tapah worth RM13,000.

This release aims to strengthen inland fisheries resources to ensure food security. In addition, this program is also symbolic to celebrate the 100th anniversary of MAHA.
