Ybhg. Dato’ Haji Adnan bin Hussain, Director General of Fisheries Malaysia was present at MSET Shipbuilding Corporation Sdn. Bhd. in Pulau Kambing, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu to complete the handover ceremony of ten (10) new 13-meter patrol boats for the Department of Fisheries Malaysia.

The patrol boats will be stationed in strategic states, namely Kedah (1), Penang (2), Perak (2), Melaka (1), Johor (3), and Kelantan (1) with the main aim of enhancing surveillance capabilities to protect the country’s fisheries resources.

The patrol boats are built using aluminium with a hull length of 13 metres and a width of 3.5 metres and are equipped with three (3) outboard engines powered by 300 horsepower each, global positioning system (MCS), radar, sonar system, and the latest communication system.

The patrol boats are capable of reaching speeds of up to 42 knots which allows the patrol boats to chase and intercept vessels attempting to flee while the department is carrying out monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) activities at sea.

Also present at the handover ceremony were Tuan Haji Abdul Halim Bin Marzuki, Senior Director of Engineering Division, Ms. Uraini Binti Ujang, Head of Collaboration, Education & Logistics, Fisheries Conservation and Protection Division, Mr. Ruzaidi Bin Mamat, Director of Terengganu State Fisheries Office, Mr. Mohd Ghazali bin A. Manap, Director of Perak State Fisheries Office, Dr. Erniyta Binti Osman, Director of Kelantan State Fisheries Office, Puan Zarina Binti Zainuddin, Director of Penang State Fisheries Office, Mr. Saufi Affandi Bin Talib, Director of Melaka State Fisheries Office, and officers from the Terengganu State Fisheries Office and representatives from the company.
