The Director General of Fisheries, Dato’ Haji Adnan Hussain was pleased to receive a courtesy call from the Kota Bharu Area Fishermen’s Association led by Mr. Nik Mohd Kamal bin Husin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kota Bharu Fishermen’s Association, to the Department of Fisheries Malaysia Headquarters, Putrajaya.
This session was held to discuss the threat and resource management of squid (Uroteuthis chinensis) in the waters of the State of Kelantan. The Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) will take appropriate action through a study of squid resources and enforcement measures to ensure the sustainability of the habitat and population of squid in the waters of the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Also present during the visit were Tuan Haji Bakri bin Miswan, Senior Deputy Director of Capture Fisheries Resources Division, Dr. Erniyta binti Osman, Kelantan State Director of Fisheries, Mr. Ryon Siow, Deputy Director of Kampung Acheh Research Institute and fisheries officers from the headquarters.
