Ybhg. Dato’ Haji Adnan bin Hussain, Director General of the Department of Fisheries Malaysia, officiated the Malaysian Shellfish Association (MSS) Programme (CSR) with myKP Merchang, Marang, Terengganu.
This program is of great importance in efforts to preserve the environment and local fishery resources. In addition, it can also emphasize the values of local heritage that need to be preserved so that it can be passed on to future generations.
Among the activities that have been carried out throughout this program are gotong-royong around the myKPMerchang jetty and also the release of 100 baby turtles of the Chelonia mydas species, the planting of 40 mangrove trees as a symbol of the CSR programme, 2,000 Nipah Crab (Scylla paramamosain) and 2,000 Siakap (Lates calcarifer) fry in the waters of Merchang which aims to increase the population and conserve fishery biodiversity and thus strengthen fishery resources as a food source for the purpose of ensuring the country’s food security and helping to generate the socio-economy of the local community.

En. Ruzaidi bin Mamat, Head of CSR Programme of MyKP Merchang as Deputy President of MSS Director of Terengganu State Fisheries Office, YBrs. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ikhwanuddin bin Abdullah, President of the Malaysian Shellfish Association Director of the Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries (AKUATROP), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), YBrs. En. Zulkifly bin Isa, District Officer/Land Administrator Management Services, Marang District and Land Office, Terengganu, YBrs.
