The Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) through the Aquaculture Division organized the Department of Fisheries Malaysia’s Aquaculture Seminar 2024 at the Bangi Avenue Convention Centre, Selangor. The seminar was officiated by YB. Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.

The seminar, which was held in a hybrid manner, specialised in the aspect of cultivating modern, sustainable and competitive technology. A total of 350 participants participated in this seminar consisting of industry players, aquaculture breeders and breeders’ associations throughout Malaysia.

There was also the presentation of myGAP Certificates to operators who have complied with the certification requirements as well as the presentation of cheques for the Aquaculture Integration Development Programme (PPIA) cluster projects worth RM7.36 million to the state of Pahang and RM951,500.00 to the state of Penang as recipients for the commercial category who will receive allocations in 2024.

An exhibition on aquaculture technology was also held to provide opportunities for participants to explore information and exhibitors to share their expertise.

Also present at the programme were Tuan Haji Wan Muhammad Aznan bin Abdullah, Deputy Director General of Fisheries (Management), YBhg. Dato’ Haji Azahari Othman, Senior Director of the Aquaculture Division, Dr. Azhar Bin Hamzah, Senior Director of the Fisheries Research Institute, and Mrs. Yeo Moi Eim, Senior Director of the Biosecurity Division.
