This morning, the Galah Shrimp Seed Release program was held in Sungai Belat, Kuantan by YBhg. Dato’ Haji Adnan bin Hussain, Director General of Fisheries Malaysia. A total of 32,000 thousand lobster seeds were donated by the Kg. Acheh Lobster Hatchery Centre, Sitiawan, Perak.

The Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) has implemented a programme to release more than 21 million lobster fry into river waters worth RM2.35 million from 2021 to 2024. In the state of Pahang. alone, a total of 1.7 million lobster fry were released into major rivers during the period, providing great benefits to local inland fishing communities and supporting ecosystem conservation.

Also present were YBhg Dato’ Haji Azahari bin Haji Othman, Senior Director of Aquaculture Division, Mr. Abdullah bin Jaafar, Pahang State Fisheries Director and staff of the Pahang State Fisheries Department as well as the Marine Police Force Region 3 Kuantan, Pahang.
